Place d'Armes square
Watched over by statue of Montreal founder Paul de Chomedey, this square was perfect starting point for our Old Montreal walking tour. This square has famous Notre-Dame Basilica on one side and Bank Of Montreal Building (Canada's first bank) and Saint Sulpice Seminary on the opposite end.
Notre Dame Basilica
Notre Dame Basilica is the jewel of Canada's religious heritage and one of the world's most dramatic examples of Gothic Revival architecture. This stunning church boasts hundreds of intimately carved wooden statues, stained glass windows narrating history of Montreal and majestic blue ceiling speckled with gold stars. The grand interior has seating for unto 4000 people.
Rue Saint-Paul
It was wonderful experience walking on the Rue Saint Paul - one of Quebec's oldest streets. The cobblestone-paved pedestrian only street is lined with many historic buildings and serves to immerse yourself in the lively old city vibe. Street is filled with unique shops, galleries, restaurants, bars and cafes. his street was perfect fusion of history, culture and entertainment.
Marché Bonsecours (Bonsecours Market)
Inaugurated in 1847, Marché Bonsecours is acknowledged as one of Canada's ten finest heritage buildings which houses several boutiques featuring top-quality “made in Québec” creations: crafts, fashions, accessories and jewellery, design items, reproduction Quebec furniture and more
Chateau Ramezay
Built in 18th century as a prestigious residence, it is now Montreal's portal to past and considered by UNESCO as one of the must see before you die. This place houses a museum where you can relive more than 500 years of history and heritage through numerous exhibits, uniforms, printed work, art, painting, furniture and more.
